Compito di scuola: l'origine del mio cognome...

The origin of my surname (music)

Jonghi derives from “jung” german language , meaning young referred to Jocellino II, my ancestor, which in 1275 moved from Switzerland to Vall D’Ossola in Piedmont in the village of Ornavasso.  Over time the nickname of Jocellino became the surname of my family. In 1860  Giovanni Jonghi von Urnavas who was one of the Captain of the King's army and fought for the unity of Italy married Lady Marietta Lavarini. In 1900 King Umberto I grants to their son Cesare (my ancestor) to combine the two names because the family Lavarini had no male heir. That's why I have two surnames.

Beatrice Fiammetta Jonghi Lavarini
